Description
Our popular 120mm Ogee skirting is a smooth, paper-wrapped MDF moulding provides all the benefits of real wood: it looks and feels like real wood, but with no knots, splinters or wastage.
It’s the perfect cost-effective alternative to solid wood.
For optimal attachment, we would recommend using a solvent-free, grab adhesive like the Bison MontageKit ARC-A001 , Unibond No More Nails Original – DIY-1011 or Unibond No More Nails Waterproof – DIY-1012
If you are using the skirting over a pre-existing floor, we recommend combining it with our 15x15mm scotia décor moulding MDF-0100 for a clean, gap free finish.
Benefits of MDF
If you want a professional finish without the headache of natural wood, here’s why MDF is a winner:
-
- Perfectly Smooth Finish: Unlike timber, MDF has no knots, grains, or shakes. This means your paint goes on like a dream for a sleek, modern look.
- Zero Warping or Twisting: Because it’s an engineered product, it stays perfectly straight. It won’t react to central heating by bowing or cracking like real wood often does.
- Budget-Friendly: It’s significantly cheaper than solid oak or pine, letting you get a high-end look while keeping your bank balance happy.
- Ready to Go: Most MDF skirting comes pre-primed, saving you hours of prep time. Just fit it, give it a quick topcoat, and you’re done!
- Consistent Quality: Every length is identical, so you won’t waste half your afternoon picking through a pile of “wonky” boards at the timber yard.
For a sustainable alternative to MDF, try our range of recycled plastic skirting boards, available in white, oak and old pine, and in a variety of profiles: ogee, torus, bullnose, flat. We are happy to send you free samples to help you select the products for your interior.
