Is Husqui composite decking slippery when it’s wet?

Husqui composite decking has been designed with anti-slip properties. The narrow grooves provide a low slip surface in wet weather conditions. It is also barefoot friendly as it does not splinter, crack or rot.

What is composite decking made out of?

Composite decking is a combination of wood fibre, plastic material and some tint and additives to form a durable, low-maintenance decking board that can be used as an alternative to timber decking. Husqui composite decking is the sustainable choice.

By choosing to use Husqui decking boards, trees and woodland habitats are preserved. Husqui composite decking is made from 90% recycled plastic and wood fibres. It is recyclable at end of life as it is recycled under the recycling stamp 2 – HDPE.

Is composite decking any good?

Absolutely! Husqui composite decking is high quality, eco-friendly alternative to timber decking. It offers the same look with none of the drawbacks to wood decking. Composite decking is recommended because it does not rot, warp, splinter or crack and requires no sanding or varnishing. Being low-maintenance is a strong selling point of composite decking. It is the ideal choice for decking underneath a hot tub as Husqui composite decking is weather resistant, anti slip and long lasting. It is also the ideal product for the environmentally conscious consumer as it is made from 90% recycled materials and does not impact on forestry and biodiversity.

Is composite decking value for money?

Husqui decking is good value. It is durable so will last longer than timber decking. Composite decking does not require the labour intensive and expensive upkeep of timber decking like regular sanding, varnishing, treating. Husqui composite decking boards have consistent quality and uniformity of size meaning it is a cost effective product when planning a decking project with minimal wastage.

How do I install Husqui cladding?

Can Husqui cladding be installed horizontally, diagonally or vertically?

Yes! All of these design options can be achieved with Husqui cladding and accessories. Although Husqui cladding is 100% waterproof, vertical cladding requires additional accessories to ensure against rain penetration in the joints.

How much cladding do I need for my project?

This will depend on the area you are planning to clad. It will also depend on the direction you want the cladding boards to run and whether you want a continuous line or if you are happy with visible joints.

As our cladding boards fix together, the ‘visible surface area’ is smaller than the actual surface area of the board. Each cladding board has a visible surface area that is listed in the description on the product page. This is the figure that is needed for calculating your total cladding board order.

We would recommend adding 5% for wastage.

We have advised and supplied many projects and are happy to share this experience and knowledge with you. Please email sales@husqui.com with any questions you may have.

Skirting, Coving & Trim FAQs

How do I cut Husqui skirting board?

The most effective way to cut any Husqui lengths is by using a circular saw. We recommend that the blade moves quickly through the moulding to reduce any heat build up.

How do I attach Husqui coving/trim/skirting to my wall?

Husqui® moulding can easily be attached using a solvent-free grab adhesive – Bison MontageKit. Evenly spread the adhesive down the length of the moulding and press firmly against the selected wall. Make sure to weight the moulding against the wall until the adhesive has set to ensure optimal attachment.

A nail gun can also be used, either in conjunction with grab adhesive or on its own.

What is plastic skirting board made from?

Husqui® skirting board, coving and trim is made from extruded polystyrene (PS) which creates a strong, high quality, clean product that is between 80 to 95% recycled and 100% recyclable. The polystyrene is recycled from, for example, horticultural trays, consumer goods packaging and take out containers.

Husqui skirting board, coving and trim has a very clean manufacturing process that is important to us because it supports our mission towards sustainability and providing environmentally friendly products to our customers. Our manufacturing sites use solar power and hydroelectric energy. There is no waste as any product that does not pass our rigorous quality control is returned and reused in the manufacturing cycle.

Planning FAQs

Do I need planning permission for my deck?

A decking project could require planning permission. It depends on where you live, the size of you proposed decking and whether you have extensions on your property already. For example, decking that is being added to a listed building or a property based within a conservation area may require planning permission. Also, if the height of the proposed deck exceeds 30cm, or if the deck, along with other extensions takes up more than 50% of the garden then planning permission will be required.

We recommend speaking to your local planning officer before starting any decking project.

Do I need planning permission to clad my property?

In most cases, adding Husqui cladding to your home does not require planning permission, providing that the materials are of a similar appearance to the rest of your home. In some cases, you may need to apply for planning permission for example, if your home is a listed building, in an area of exceptional beauty or in a national park.

We recommend speaking to your local planning officer before starting any cladding project.
